I love Plenty but I must confess that I didn't really get it the first time I watched this film. It's certainly something that becomes better upon repeated viewings as it allows you to think about what she must have been going through in her life after the thrill and danger of living through the war etc...
Meryl is stunningly beautiful and Tracy Ullman is amazing as her best friend ;-) I loved what Tracy said onstage the night of Meryl's AFI award, she is hilarious!
I can also see a young Miranda in Susan, especially with her shorter haircut. It's sad how she can't get on with her life after the war and how she clings to pieces of her past while pretending not to be bothered about anything. She just can't recapture those glory days no matter how hard she tries.
Yes, you are right the first time I watched the movie, it was really confusing. I really didn't get it *LOL* But by the second, third [..] time I really enjoyed this little piece of fantastic movie.
I felt so sorry for this character Susan. She can't help herself, it is too sad, and Meryl did an AMAZING, AWESOME [..] job.
She should have got the Oscar for this role, right`? *LOL*
Wow, I love the pics you're chosen so much. If I hadn't already seen this movie they would have convinced me that it was worth a look. Meryl looks stunning throughout, and even though Susan isn't particularly a likeable character it's hard not to feel some sympathy for her at times. Must go and re-watch this now :)
