I was in chat at the dotnet the other day... I didn't exactly realize it then, but I thought about it more on our trip up to Sterling this past weekend. The big buzz in the chatroom was PRF opening weekend. I found it a little tough getting excited about all that since my opening weekend (or opening weekend for me might be a better way to term ( Read more... )

I don't think one needs to be garbed to have a good time at Faire.

Some of us have been to other faires. I've been to other faires (Tuxedo Park and Scarborough). I just haven't enjoyed them as much as I do PARF. Also, for as much as I enjoy faires in general (I would not get a season pass if I was not with John and didn't know you guys), it does not seem worth it to me to travel all that way for something I wouldn't really enjoy. Sometimes I have enough trouble getting through the 12 weeks of PARF - another faire season would kill me. I don't know how you and Kim afford the gas, though I'm sure Sterling is lovely from the way you describe it.

That being said, Mark, think about it... would you want all the PARF fans to invade Sterling? I'm thinking Lady Snow here. I see your point that people should broaden their horizons, but some people are better off in their bubble. And no one likes to be told that the thing they love is inferior. Go tell Lady Snow that PARF isn't as good - I'll be hiding behind the tree.

Sterling is one Faire I have not gotten to yet. I really do want to go next year. My bro and sil go every year. I need to get up to NYRF again sometime soon too. I used to do that every year. I need to get to MDFaire too.

I've been out to SoCal Faire a few times but I didn't make it there this year.

Next year the goal is to spend a weekend at Sterling, NYRF And MD. Maybe down to North Carolina Faire as well. And hopefully out to SoCal again.
