FFF: Before or After

In this week's FFF, I am giving you a piece of a story. You need to give me a story that leads up to mine or one that would follow. Show me what you got!She sat in the cafe staring out the window. It was chilly, and a draft came through the old pane. At times, she ( Read more... )

OMG, I thought Caroline was talking about a husband or boyfriend or something and not a dog. I love how you set the scene after the prompt and I could feel her emotions. It's evocative. I'm still shaking my head over the dog though. That was such a surprise, but then I know you like to throw in those surprise endings. Kudos for a job well done.

Thanks for reading! Hee, this is the exact effect I was going for - a tiny surprise at the end. If I had more time, I would have thrown in more clues with husband in the background. And maybe William wouldn't have had an accident. Caroline would have to put him down for some reason and she argues back and forth with herself. I think it fits better with the part the prompter wrote. I appreciate you taking the time to read. :)

Whoa...William's a DOG??? I was about to comment on the heartbreaking moments with her husband at the hospital (vet clinic or vet ER) and he turns out to be a dog. That doesn't make it any less heartbreaking, but wow, was I surprised. This was a great drabble.

You've found some really terrific prompts for NaBlo and I look forward to reading more. I also want to see your pics from Jamaica and your write up of the trip.

*grins* I'm glad you were surprised because that was what I had in mind. Thanks for taking the time to read, Ash, and I appreciate your comments.

I still have to upload and sort the pics. Now that I'm feeling better, I should have some time to do that this week.

Awwww, that is so sad, but I liked your cookie and the surprise at the end. You packed in a lot of emotion in just 423 words.

I would like to try my hand at writing this prompt even though I'm too late for the contest.

Thanks for reading and commenting! :) I was surprised with how it turned out myself because William could have been a person.

*checks your journal* You wrote a ficlet based on this prompt! *runs off to read*
