Are you guys getting your little one the H1N1 vaccine? My doctor reccommends it, but I am still unsure if I want to pump more meds into Holland (she has already received the normal flu vac). WHat are your thoughts on this? There is a free clinic for Davis County tomorrow...so any thoughts would be appreciated today.

Max isn't old enough to get it yet, but I've thought about lately and I'm not sure what I would do. I keep hearing about deaths (which is luckily no infants). But even right now when you get the flu vaccine you still get the flu. So how do they know that just because you get the H1N1 vaccine you won't get the swine flu? I almost feel either way you get screwed. Then I ask myself, is it better to be prepared then not? I think it's a tough decision for any parent. I know I've been lysoling and germ-xing everything I touch the last month. His toys, our house and everything in between. But i figure if he gets it, he is going to get it and I've done what I can to prevent it. or at least I hope.

I hope you figure out what you are doing! Good luck :)

I am going to get it for Gage. I go to school full time and come in contact with pretty much everything. So far this season Gage and I have had the flu twice and a revolving door of head colds and we barely go out in public. My problem is that his Ped office isn't giving out shots yet because of a severe out break of swine flu down here.

I am not willing to risk his life. I know it would probably never come to that, but I am not going to risk that for anything. I have always trusted my gut about getting him vaccinated and my gut says do it.

As always, it's a personal decision.

I know I am late in responding to this, but I thought I would add my thoughts ( ... )

We decided against it, for the same reasons you mentioned - the unknown. Also, my sister Melissa and her entire family got the swine flu last week. I spoke with her a couple of days ago and she told me that it hit her and her husband worse than the kids. The kids acted like they had a bad flu and got over it quicker than the adults. She also has a 1 year old daughter who got it. They gave the 1 year old Tamiflu (I think thats the name) and she got better faster than anyone. My main concern was Holland, but since they have meds for children under the age of 4, it helped me relax and make a decision.
