if you have questions about oils you can ask me. just get some and a couple oil brushes and some odorless turpentine and make sure you have a ventilated work area. you don't need linseed oil really unless you're going to make very thick layers.

the decembrists. grace cathedral hill
modest mouse. dramamine
my morning jacket. golden
the notwist. consequence
paul simon. graceland
the smiths. heaven knows I'm miserable now

I got some low odor/odor less turp today. I'm just unsure about
1. do I have to use a primer on the canvas?
2. should I work from light to dark or vice versa or does it matter?
3. does using the turp make the paint go on lighter/thinner?
Answer at your leisure :P

1. you should put something on the canvas before oils because they can eat through canvas. gesso, acrylic or normal latex paint all work. I think theres a clear medium too my friend was using because she had natural colored canvas and wanted it to show through, but I cant remember what its called.
2. the classic way is to put a base color first and then do light areas first but you can do whatever you want. I end up using a lot of white because my colors always get muddy.
3. yes. its also really good for mixing colors so you can get the color your making to be pure.

if you're going to use acrylics with oils just remember always do acrylic first and then oil. if you put acrylic over oil it doesnt work.

good luck! I think the way you paint will be really nice with oils.

those are watercolor and gouache? holy crap, thats pretty impressive. my attempts with those substances looks like poo. i'm an oil boy myself, but admittedly have not been at it for a long long time. (reminds me i should add my paintings link to my site)

on another note, i would actually like to see other stuff you have done and buy one of your works. you're quite talented!
