I don't know. I'm wondering, if with a minimal editing, this might pass as original fiction. Publishable might be pushing it, but it's worth a shot, right?

I actually thought that when I first read this off OTL. Really the only thing to change would be making the mutant at the end some kind of minority, and you're set. ;) I think it's incredibly powerful and definitely publishable. Go for it!

It is very powerful and well written. You should *definitely* try to publish it!! But save movie rights for me, alright?? :) It would make an excellent narrative short story.
