Me being me and my school being my school and my eithics class being my ethics class... I don't see the next few days being very fun. At all. I mean... what am I talking about... what could be more fun than having my basic beliefs argued against in a setting where I can't do anything by lose if I stand up for myself ( Read more... )

knowing when to rant and when to refrain is a good thing. just because you refrain doesn't mean that you concede defeat; it may mean that you realize that by ranting here, you are preaching to the choir(not that the choir minds, and any who do can shove it), or you recognize that ranting in your class is futile, because obviously nothing can refute religion in a religion-based class.

to be more blunt: give the catholics the finger and move on. i know they suck, but you'd be hard-pressed to change your professor's mind on this.

See.... it would be easy, if I agreed with everything you said. But I've gained a lot of respect for Catholics this year, and I agree with a lot of what they believe in, both religiously and politically (not that all Catholics agree, I mean more the Church)... and that's what makes this hard. I want to be able to accept the Catholic view of things, even of homosexuality, even if I don't agree with it. But... I have a hard time. It's good in theory, but theories are never lives out in reality.

I just wish people would stay out of others' bedrooms and let love be love and everything. Bah.

Using discretion and wimping out on supporting your beliefs are two different things, dear Weeblo. I cannot say for sure which of the two you are doing, but just remember that not fighting people about it isn't always wimping out. Sometimes it is the wise choice.

Stand up for yours beliefs, but know that standing up for your beliefs also requires the right time and place... and if that time and place isn't Ethics your senior year then don't take shit from people, but also don't bag on yourself for not being all gungho about it.

I'm not sure bag and gungho are real words... tell me if I'm making them up, please. :-P

And no matter what happens, I love you and if people piss you off I have two shoulders for you to choose from.

haha, I just got this mental image of me beating people with your shoulders. In retrospect, I realize that the shoulders were for me to cry on, but when people piss me off... well... *angelic smile*
