And now it all gets a bit silly, I'm sorry...The first thing Arthur becomes aware of is the too-close rumble of traffic from the road, and then it’s the uncomfortable weight of Eames pressing him into the concrete roof. The sky’s still too fucking glary, and the breeze in uncomfortably cold on the sticky mess of come, and he feels like an oyster shucked out of its shell, all soft and wet and vulnerable. He turns his head, reaching towards where he remembers placing the neatly folded pile of his clothes, opens his eyes and sees Ariadne’s boots. It takes him a moment of befuddlement (Ariadne’s boots? Why are Ariadne’s boots up here on the roof with them?) for the full horror to dawn on him
