I tend to agree with your sentiment that it probably wouldn't have been appropriate to shut down campus. A shooting in the dorms, while terrible, seemed like an isolated incident. It's not that uncommon of an event, and when it does happen it usually ends there. A campus shooting is a very low probability event, and given that, as far as I can tell so far, no one could have accurately predicted the shooting, hence shutting down campus would have been imprudent, although would have covered asses. Hopefully we won't have to shut down campus every time someone gets into a fight in the dorms.

yeah...and as for that arson claim they have on the shooter, as a former housing employee, I can tell you that many dorm fires are often kept under wraps...

Haha, I've been namechecked.
I think at the exact moment the alarm was going off, I was reading about the increasing number of deaths on my laptop. I suppose I probably shouldn't have been following up on it right then, but it really just spooked me.
I have to admit that setting off alarms for burned popcorn on that particular day was not a very wise choice.
