Me?" you repeated, there seem to be no end of the hill you were mentally going down on.
"Haha, yes you," Ai was still giggling.
You finally hit ground from the hill, but now speeding fast forward. Your body was pressing into the mattress at that point outside of your wild imagination. "But that's a family trip. I don't really want to ruin that," you said quickly.
"You're already like family to us. Once new sibling comes in, they might as well think of you as familly too."
"Oh my God!" You're out of your bed dancing around your room. "It'd be great if the rents here said yes!"
"Ooo! Hope so too! Call me back when they tell you. I'm as excited as you, I just found out last night, I'm going to pack now!"
"Wait!" you said before she hung up. "You forgot to say when we're going and how long we'll be gone."
"Oh yeah!" Ai laughed with you. "Erm...Wednesday and we're planning for the...rest of the summer?"
Your eyes turn big, that's Cloud Nine there! "Yeah hopefully they say yes to that."
"True that, I hope you can come. Call me back when you get an answer, dude! Hope you cheered up."
"Mostly I have." You were grinning more than ever. This summer's turning out pretty great now! You couldn't help but continue to dance around the room. It was only when you flopped back onto the bed after dancing you went back to reality. I still need to ask Mom and Dad. Please God, have them say yes!
"Al, time for dinner!" Mom called from downstairs. Well here's my chance.
During dinner you couldn't hold still. You were practically jumping in your seat with excitement. Thoughts of the beautiful city of Tokyo filled your head. I haven't actually been in Japan, just in the airport to transger flights. Even just looking at the view from in the plane or outside the windows, I've always wonderd what was it really like in Japan. Sure I've seen stuff on Japan in shows/movies and pictures, but it wasn't my experience I was seeing.
"Honey?"
"Hmm?" you said blinking many times out of your daydream, your eyes hurt.
"Are you okay?" Mom reached over to feel your forehead. "You were staring blankly out the window and wiggling in your seat alot for some time now."
"Really? I was?" You shook your head. I hope I don't always look like that when I daydream, you though thinking back about daydreaming in public, especiallyback in school. "Oh I have some news." You slowly made a grin. Your parent had your attention right away. "Aimee called me earlier about this trip her family is taking for family bonding."
"That sounds nice," Dad remarked smiling too. "Where are they going?"
"Japan!" you exclaimed. "And they invited me to come along!"
"Really???" Both of your parents said surprised, but happily.
"Yes," you answered now grinning bigger.
"But what about your summer work?" Mom pointed out after you guys had your joyful moments. Should have seen it coming. Typical Asian parents thinking of all the work to be done before enjoying the pleasure.
"I've done most of it already," you said promptly. It wasn't even a lie either; the work at least kept me occupied from feeling deeply sorry for myself.
"How long will you stay there?" Mom was just getting started on what always seemed like 20 Questions when something big always happened. At least I'm halfly ready on this round.
"For the rest of the summer," you said with a straight face you try to manage. Her eyes were a little sad and worried, like they were always like when you started school, went to camp in the summer when you were in middle school, and your graduation. "Are you sure?"
You took a deep breath and was ready to make your guard. "Yes Mom, I'm sure, I'm already an adult. It's already ti,e for me to be a little free with my life. I'm going to college soon."
"She's got her reasons there," Dad said approvingly in a proud way. He's always been the one knowing you should strive for your independence when you say you're prepared. Which is why he calls you his Little Survivor.
Mom looked at him for moments with their silent eye talking. Then she broke away from the glazing and looked at you. "Okay, you can go."
Your jaw dropped. "Really???" She nodded smiling softly.
"OH MY GOD!" You got out of your seat and went around the table and hugged them. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
"But I'm going to talk to Aimee's parents more about the trip," Mom butted in, but was happy for you.
"And I'll check your school work so far,"Dad said, being him.
"No problem," you said, bolting to the stairs.
"Finish your food first!" Dad laughed.
A few minutes you were back in your room still with a stomachache. You just gave dad your work and mom was already on the phone with Annie. "Ouchies," you heaved yourself onto bed instead of your normal diving into it. "Shouldn't of ate too fast." But you were still estatic. You grabbed your cell and dialed Ai's cell.
The first thing your heard on the other end was a scream. "I heard! Can you believe it?!?"
"No!" you giddled. "Ai, thank you so much! This trip is something I really need! You're the best!"
"Aww! Thanks Love!" Ai said. "Oh dude, I hate to break this moment, but I have to get up early. The rents are getting our passports tomorrow and I have to work."
"No worries," you said gratefully.
"I have a stomachache after stuffing down my dinner in seconds earlier."
"Ouch, well talk to you tomorrow, Love. Night!"
"Night," you hung up and curled up in bed, turning out the lights. Say goodbye to sorrows!
