the power of repetition

There is a wake going on downstairs and I can't help but feel that the collective chanting of the monks induces a feeling of calm. Not because I feel sympathy for the families and friends. But because their repetitive chants listened to for a while genuinely induce a state of calmness and trance.

The monks will come to the dead person's house and chant over the body, right?

it was at our buildings void deck. I never felt such a state of calm in any other funeral since most of the ones I attended were christian. There was a lot less negative energy in the air, i mean u could feel it.
