I would have scanned this from today's L.A. I find it particularly odd that the phrase "dumbing down" was associated with Green Day, when American Idiot was a musical confrontation regarding the political situation of the world. American Idiot is a artistic, musical and political reflection of the historical context in which it was made. In my humble opinion, The Black Parade is a artistic and musical entity unto itself. The two are only loosely comparable; all this comparing seems like lazy journalism.

There's no virtuoso among the four instrumentalists (plus added keyboardist) to command the music, and the sound was arena generic.

Nuh uh. I'm convinced that Ray's gonna spring some ultimate solo sometime soon.
