I find it particularly odd that the phrase "dumbing down" was associated with Green Day, when American Idiot was a musical confrontation regarding the political situation of the world. American Idiot is a artistic, musical and political reflection of the historical context in which it was made. In my humble opinion, The Black Parade is a artistic and musical entity unto itself. The two are only loosely comparable; all this comparing seems like lazy journalism.
