I really liked that observation. John's self had become so essential to Rodney that he just stops noticing the surface wrapping because it's not relevant--John could be blue and have scales (Conversion, anyone?), but he'd still be John. Rodney had never had anyone in his life like John. John was unique. And the way Rodney felt about him was unique, too.

But, I think you got carried away with the word like: Everyone else in Atlantis looked like at John like he was a big damn hero....
