I was thinking about how shocked and angry that_dang_otter was at the idea of someone making $12,000.00 a year. then curiosity drove me to The Salary Calculator, where I learned that $12K in Tucson is the equivalent of $14,777 a year in San Jose

What bothers me is not that there are people making $12,000 a year - the world is full of lazy, stupid, and incompetent people. What bothers me is that you are not one of them.

I had recently read an article about how economic mobility in the US is not as great as it is in other countries, and it certainly got me thinking. The problem with this is that, if good work is not rewarded, it will stop happening. And that's a much bigger issue than any particular economic "injustice

I've used data from salary.com before, but I simply don't believe it. I don't know what companies they survey, but I can tell you that the average sous chef in Tucson does NOT make $36K
