My cousin Teri's daughter, Kelly Griffith Bauer, just graduated from medical school at OHSU in Portland. Today the family gathered at her grandmother's, my dear Aunt Bonnie's, house on Lovers Lane to celebrate. Teri's siblings Bob, Betsy, Nancy, Joan, and Karen were there with spouses and children, as well as Rick and Chaela Hartigan with daughters

Eh, it was actually kind of harrowing. I didn't do well. It was the daytime show, and back when no one ever got any actual cash. Rather than a ceramic Dalmatian and a Renault Alliance convertible, I ended up with a bunch of hot-pink Conair hair and beauty products and a Gucci suit bag (long since stolen), plus the consolation prizes: a Betty Crocker cookbook, a sterling Tiffany olive fork from the Spanish Olive Council of America (which I still have), half a dozen boxes of Big G cereals, and 20 coupons each good for a 20-ounce can of Niagara Spray Starch. Vanna was nice, though.
