I hired a new assistant manager at my club this week. She seems really nice. Stable. She has goals, ambition, a fiance. Now just as long as she doesn't turn out to be a homicidal stalker, I think things will work out well with her.

He and I talked today about it. I explained why I said what I did, and while he wasn't thrilled about it, he seemed to at least understand why I did it. And I get why he was so upset about it, too. He's done so much for me, broken so many rules just so we could be together, and he loves me so much. It hurt him for me to call him just a friend, even if I didn't really mean it.

He did, and I think things are alright between us now. He was hurt by me calling him just a friend, but when I explained why, he seemed to understand even if he wasn't happy about it.

I don't have a ring because Leo and I aren't technically allowed to be engaged until the Powers that Be give us the go-ahead. That's why I haven't really told anyone yet. Apart from my sisters, you and Tatsumi and Hakkai and Sanzo are the only ones who know. I've been wearing a silver necklace that Leo gave me ever since he first proposed, but I won't have a ring until the Powers that Be see fit to give us their blessing.

I'm sorry to hear about the misunderstanding with Leo. Were you able to sit with him and assuage his worries? Hm...if you can't call him your fiancé, can you at least call him boyfriend? I know it's not exactly accurate, either, but it would at least let him know that you think of him on a higher plateau than just a friend (even though in his heart, I'm sure he knows that)?

As for nosy people who ask a million questions, just tell them you met him at work. ~_^ Let them think he was a patron who happened to run into you one night. **grins**

Yes, Leo and I got a chance to talk, and I explained why I said what I did. He wasn't thrilled with it, but he did seem to understand at least. You're right, calling him my boyfriend would have been much better than calling him just a friend. I guess I just didn't know what to say, and that's what came out. I mean, I think of his as my fiance even though we aren't technically allowed to be engaged yet, but I can't call him that in front of other people.

I hope so too. They told Leo that we have to prove to them that we can both do our jobs without letting our relationship get in the way, and I think we've been doing a pretty damned good job of that.
