Those are such impressive sculptures! And yes, they look better with the flash on.

The snow was really annoying, getting all over my camera, but when I turned on flash, I realized I could use the snow to my advantage. ;)

That cute thing in your omiyage stash looks like a Japanese Bonhomme de Neige!

The ice peacock is amazing -- look at those striated feathers!

Hey, Montreal has a big snow festival too right? Have you seen that? How does the sculptures compare to these pictures? I think they have a sculpture parade, right?

There's a small fete des neiges here, but the major one (la Carnaval) is in Quebec City. I haven't been (I'm thinking of going one day -- it's on this month), but I think the sculptures here focus more on scale (i.e. large) rather than detail.

There's an ice bar on the roof of a hotel in the Old Port.
