Friday, July 29 cont. When we last left off, I was on a tour bus taking the scenic route from Kumamoto to the City of Beppu in Oita-ken. FAST FORWARD!!!
I suspect that the weird 'monument' is a phallus, which, I'm told, is put in specific places (like in front of shrines) to bring fertility and protection.
I've actually seen some that are very accurately shaped like giant phalluses and make no qualms about it -- people don't even give them a second glance (while I giggle)!
Ecchi! Actually, I was only referring to those unique structures at train stations such as this and this. XD
Maybe this was something closer to what you had in mind? ;)
I'm not really a big fan of takoyaki, but I remember a matsuri-dude chopping up all these octopus tentacles in preparation for takoyaki. Not a pretty sight. oO;

I like how every city in Japan is not truly a city unless it has either a tower or a ferris wheel...

Too bad you didn't stay for another two years, I could've had someone to hang out with. ;_; Did you work in Beppu?

Did you have the takoyaki, or is it too hot yet?
