My 15 minutes of fame were actually 3 >

Hm, the NFL predicts a John Kerry win: http://www.snopes.com/sports/football/election.aspThat aside, I finally made my grand television debut on Sunday for three whole minutes. Yes, somehow my 75 minute class got edited down to a 3 minute intermission between variety shows. XD Eh well, I realized watching myself how nervous and self-conscious I ( Read more... )

It's all about Matsui -- seriously, on the news, they always show Yankees baseball, but only footage of Matsui in action. When the Yankees lost, the news promptly stopped talking about MLB. :P

Anyway, I think that's a generalization about Japan. There was this thing on TV the other day showing that Osaka people are much friendlier than Tokyo people. Friendliness depends on how crowded a place is and some other environmental factors, I think. From those letters, you could say that students are friendlier than those in North America, though -- while I've met quite a few rude students, it's still nothing like the high schools in West.

Wait, scrap all that, was that just a cheap shot at Taji? ;)

Cool jack-o-lantern! If I'm still teaching next year, I think I am going to have to snatch that idea and make my kids draw jack-o-lanterns. If no one has given you the gist of the Japanese blurb at the end by the time I get home, I'll check it out after work.

The Jack O Lantern idea came to me when one of the students kept reminding me that Halloween was coming up and that she really wanted to carve a pumpkin. Importing in a couple dozen pumpkins would be kinda expensive as you've learned from Jen, so I went the paper route and the kids still enjoyed it. If you do try it next year, I also got the kids to write a simple pumpkin introduction on the back so they'd at least be practicing *some* English. ;)

Thanks for the offer! . . but I think I get the gist now watching it again in eikaiwa today. *I think* she says how much fun the class is, and how she wants to come again next year. If so, how original. ^^v
