Viva la revoluciòn, via Che!!! He's been one of my favorite persons ever since I was little. I was a bit surprised you hadn't heard about him, but then again maybe not, we had little if nothing about him at school too, but I've always watched much discovery channel and documentaries, plus my parents have always been a fan of his ;D
The reason I and many others admire him is because he himself came from a very well-off middle class Argentinian family, but decided to travel through less developed countries in Latin America and saw poor native people being exploited by rich US imperialists and other wealthy people, and then he started to work for the less fortunate peoples sake. After the Cuban revolution, in which he played a huge part alongside his partner Fidel, he travelled to undeveloped countries for example Congo etc. to help people affected by war, but also supporting guerilla groups (of which I'm not a fan, just to make that clear!) He also supported the victims of the Hiroshima bomb after he visited Japan. But he was quite ruthless non the less, and I guess he's not that "angelic", but I think his values were good. I have often had a slight liking to marxism, because I like the ideas of human equality and fairness, but sadly, as we have seen, not many countries have been able to execute it in real life :/
I think people are surprised because Che has become a symbol, and thus he is kinda hard to avoid. Chances are, you've seen people wearing t-shirts with Che on them and so on. I have a t-shirt with Che that says 'I have no idea who this is'. :D
LMAO, that's awesome, I need that t-shirt! The first thing I thought when I saw his picture was, "hmm, I'm pretty sure I've seen this guy on a t-shirt before . ."
When you wear the shirt, do you have a lot of strangers coming up to give you the answer? ;)
