Live Earth: The Afterglow . . sorta.

Jul 08, 2007 00:00

The ConceptLive Earth was an ironic experiment. Turning on your TV to save the environment -- isn't that a paradox? Then, when they went off on environmental spiels between acts, the crowd went off to get drinks. The message was lost because the message was the commercial break. :P People watch concerts for the music, not to learn earth-saving ( Read more... )

I gave up on Tokyo after the first half-hour of silence. I also had trouble handling their "English intro". :/

What wasn't so great was that Canadian TV billed her as "OTUKA AI," while one news reporter called her, "OTSUKA AL." >_<
I missed the latter. Oh, man. XD

I've never heard their music before, but I'm guessing it's probably much different from the bubblegum pop of Otsuka Ai. ;)
Are you serious? I actually own all of their CDs. Ironic, that the one English group I know, you don't. XD

I got into them after they released the song In the End however many years ago (I don't care for their videos though). Their music is known for being "emo". Their most recent album, which just came out, is a lot more political than emo.

Here's their page at Oricon. They have solid sales, I guess. I wonder how many concerts they planned to do in Japan or if they were just there for Live Earth. (Almost every concert had a "US mainstream" artist or two planted in it.)

Oh, I hated that English intro too, that girl sounded like she was high on ecstasy: "I was born in outer space, look, it's the Earth. Whoaaa." It reinforces the stereotype that gaijin are beautiful, blonde bubbleheads. :P

Whoa, you have bought CDs before?? ;) Anyway, I stopped listening to radio after high school so I'm not really familiar with many of the singers from The 2000s. ^_^ I think I've heard that "In the End" song before though . . but the version I remember didn't have the rap part . . ? I'm not really into emo, I like cheerful dance music which is like the other extreme of emo.

I wonder if they're popular in Japan because there's nothing like emo in Japanese music. (Except maybe Remioromen?) Then again, is emo really emo when you can't understand the lyrics?
