i totally agree that the way that was written and the whole taking pictures of it thing is grossly inappropriate.

however, i did wear orange and maroon. i heard mention of it the yesterday on npr and this morning i decided to go ahead and where the colors. no one really noticed and i didn't really mention it to anyone.. while it doesn't help bring anyone back, it did help me stay conscious of what happened and how I might have an effect in someone's life as their teacher... whereas earlier this week i was totally focused on myself and the stress of deadlines and coaching and teaching responsibilities...

but those were my personal reasons... and I don't think anyone should be made to feel like they need to go out and buy an orange and maroon outfit so they dont seem insensitive to a certain issue...

i did!!! it was kind of hectic with soccer and teaching... i ended up taking a day off to get it all done.

I understand doing it for personal reasons. I did the moment of silence by myself. I just left the office for a minute to observe it and then went back in. I didn't tell everyone what I had done or throw it in conversation as evidence that I should win the mourning contest. My problem with it wasn't that they wanted to show their sadness, but that they wanted to make such a spectacle of it. And they did, belive me. I can't wait to forward you guys the newsletter when it comes out.
