I have reader's block. Last weekend I was in Borders with $30 worth of very belated Christmas giftcard, and I had the hardest time picking anything out. Normally my challenge is to avoid walking out with the whole store. After months of reading about embassies and management strategies I want fiction, I need fiction, oh baby oh baby, but nothing ( Read more... )

"There are a few authors who really click for me" - give us a list, the LJ you-may-also-like feature may also work ;)

Curses, I was going to reccommend Tom Robbins because I was sure you would like him. Bright side is, I was right :) You may also want to check out Christopher Moore's stuff. His work kind of ranges across the board, but I just love his sense of humor. I picked up his newest book, Fool, recently, but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

I've read some of Christopher Moore's stuff; I've found it hit or miss. Lamb makes me cackle with glee. I should definitely give that a reread. The Stupidest Angel was pretty good. Bloodsucking Fiends was meh. Do you have any favorites to recommend?

Not fiction, but I read a "quirky nonfiction" I thought you might like if you haven't read it already. It's called "The Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University" and it's about a guy (raised Quaker though not particularly religious) who transfers from Brown to Liberty University for a semester. It was pretty good/funny.

I've heard about this - mental_floss did an interview with him, and it did seem like a pretty good story.

I have periods where I'm the same way. I didn't buy books for YEARS, because nothing really sounded interesting.

What sorts of things do you generally like to read?
