Christmas is expensive. Previously my monetary investment in Christmas has been limited to buying presents and maybe stuffing a stocking. This can be accomplished with $150-$200. This year is different. Since Beth and I are doing Christmas alone together in DC instead of going back to Texas we've had to pick up a few things. A Christmas tree. ( Read more... )

1) save the stuff you use this year (lights and ornaments at least don't spoil)
2) invite the parents over to help decorate and cook :P
3) holidays are too commercialized. consider celebrating everything a few weeks late, will save you tons! :P
4) whatever you do, don't listen to anything i say. especially this.
