Kon kind of wished he could be doing something a little more intellectually engaging than cleaning gunk out of a sink pipe. Not because he wanted to challenge himself or anything. He had a much better reason than that ( ... )

Ururu let go of Kon's shirt in surprise when he cried out, then stared after him in alarm as he whipped around away from her and dove under the kitchen table (which was no mean feat, being in an Ichigo-sized body). Senses becoming alert she scurried over to the table and pulled herself in among the chair legs. Coming alongside the shaking Kon-san, she looked around the quiet kitchen and tilted her head to see out the open doors into the living room.

And all was quiet. The closest person was Kisuke-san.

Not daring to touch Kon-san again, she whispered, "Kon-san, what's wrong? What are we hiding from?"

He was safe, right? Perfectly safe. Nothing had gotten him yet, and if something were going to get him, it would have done so by now. Especially since under the table wasn't the most concealed hiding spot ( ... )

...Reaction time? To what, get under the table?
Kon-san was clearly being an idiot. But he was also clearly upset by something.

With a slight sigh she got out from under the table. Following Kon-san with her eyes as he followed her, she said, "I came to see if you ready for a lunch break." A tiny bit of excitement tinged her voice as she added, "there are sakura blooming in the park down the road."

Looking down to her hands clasped before her she asked, "Would you... want to have lunch in the park together, Kon-san? If that's okay, and you didn't have any other plans..."

For sure it would be nice and fun and might even cheer Kon-san up, but she always felt hesitant about asking... She would feel bad if someone changed their plans just for her.

Ururu clearly didn't buy it, but she also didn't ask any more questions. That was good enough for Kon. He didn't want to talk about that, anyway.

He straightened once he made it out from under the table, stretching elaborately to get rid of the cramped feeling of his muscles. Really, he didn't fit under there very well. Which made it all the more obvious that it wasn't a good hiding spot for him.

"Lunch break? Sure!" Working under the sink was pretty disgusting, anyway. Kon wasn't exactly in a hurry to get back to it. Of course, he wasn't eager to head out into the ruins of Karakura, either, but . . . "Nope, haven't got any other plans. Having lunch in the park sounds like fun!"

On some days, Kon went to meet Keigo on his lunch breaks, but this wasn't one of them. And maybe hanging out with Ururu would help get his mind off of far less pleasant things.

"To the park, it is!" he announced, perhaps a little over-dramatically. But no one could accuse Kon of being understated.
