"Maybe I didn't ask her," Shunsui said as he straightened and looked around the room. He scratched at the back of his head and sighed. He was making a mess of this place and he dearly wanted to sneeze again. His haori would be gray with dust before too long and he raised a brow at Jyuushirou rubbing at his own haori. "Problem?" he asked. He could be amused at his friend's expense.

Life was boring otherwise.

Shunsui frowned and rolled his eyes. "Far be it from me," he said, "to frown on someone's rather innocuous methods but..." He shook his head. "I heard Hitsugaya-taichou once say that if he ever saw that dance again, he'd cut off Madarame's feet. I can't find it in myself to disagree."

Ukitake paused. "Perhaps you didn't," he agreed. Ise-san was much to thorough to miss asking the most likely suspects about missing articles. An scroll on ancient gardening techniques would most likely have only gone to a few suspects; himself included.

He brushed his cloak off neatly. "Not at all, although you might keep an eye on your pink haori, it seems to be turning a rather dingy gray." He glanced at the boxes and shifted another one, waving his hand to disperse the dust. "Hitsugaya-taichou is rather imperious."

Cut off his feet? He couldn't say that the 11th division wouldn't find a way to grow them back. That or train him how to fight off his arms. He sighed. "You have no idea what this looks like?" He glanced dubiously at the boxes. Why were there so many boxes? He was going to have to get rid of some of these boxes. Shelves. They could install shelves and sort this nonsense into something of an organized mess. He would have Rukia pick a few candidates for this sort of a project.

"My haori," Shunsui returned, "will be fine." He glanced at Jyuushirou and raised a brow. "Your hair, though... That'll be a different story." Shunsui stood up straight and kicked one of the boxes lightly with his toes. What had he been thinking, coming in here and digging through dusty boxes? He must have been out of his mind.

"Well," Shunsui said slowly, poking at the box again, "the thing has 'rope' in the name so I'd figure it's got something to do with that."

With their luck, though, it'd look nothing like a rope.

Shunsui knelt and rummaged through the open box. "There are some amazingly strange things in these boxes." He pulled out a scroll that looked like it was about ready to fall apart at the slightest breeze. "This one's on..." He trailed off, squinting through the dust. He blinked and then put it back. "... Nothing we need to know about." He looked up at Jyuushirou. "What kind of division are you running?"

Ukitake paused. Then he shifted more in Shunsui's direction and stared at him. "It looks like a rope?" They were looking for an ancient artifact that looked like a rope, in a room filled with boxes of scrolls? He reached up and pinched the bridge of his nose, eyes closing.

"How did Ise-san escape the rope expedition?" And was she bringing reinforcements if they didn't appear in an hour? Sometimes when you disappeared with Shunsui for large quantities of time, she was kind enough to come and rescue you from your own self-inflicted peril. Normally, she warned him when Shunsui was going to do something crazy. Like look for rope shaped artifacts in storage buildings. He needed to re-learn a few tactics if Nanao had managed to figure out how to get out of this sort of expedition. Although, to be fair he wouldn't have to listen to Shunsui quote sonnets at her for hours this time around.

The thought was almost cheering.

"I'm assuming so," Shunsui said and shrugged. He was ignoring that incredulous, bordering on annoyed tone in his friend's voice. Meet frustration with cheerfulness; that was his way. Especially his way when Jyuushirou became grumpy with him. He would never stay grumpy long.

"Lovely Nanao," Shunsui said as he shoved a box aside, "seems to have disappeared. I wonder if she knew what was happening?" In truth, he'd gone to Jyuushirou first. "We're in your storerooms anyway. It seems to me that you should be here."

Shunsui straightened and turned to face Jyuushirou, smile firmly in place. "I should have found her and brought her, yes?" He chuckled and turned back to the next box. "Optimism, Jyuushirou. You should try it."
