But Brutus would not be bored any longer - he had a new friend to meet. Taking the drowsy rat from her futon and holding him under his forepaws she walked out into the hall.
"Um, hello, Kon-san." She said quietly, and Brutus gave a kick with his dangling hind legs. Using her thumbs she stroked the rat's soft fur. She couldn't let him down just yet, for she was under very strict directions from Kisuke-san to not let the rat out of her sight.
Looking back to Kon she said, "Thank you for brining Justin-" then stopped and blinked. Was that Justin on Kon's head? Peeking out from the bright orange spikes of Kon's hair, Justin looked just so, so ...cuteCheeks brightening in a blush, Ururu bowed slightly. "I... hope that they can get along well. This is Brutus," she said, holding him out. " ( ... )

"Hi there, Ururu!" Kon rolled his eyes upward as Justin let out a happy squeak. At the sight of another of his own kind, maybe?
He lifted his hand, and Justin hopped onto it, small toes wrapping around one finger, swishing his tail a little. Kon held his hand out carefully toward the other rat -- officially dubbed Brutus, it seemed -- and let Justin have a good sniff of his compatriot. Justin squeaked again, and gave a few half-flaps of his wings.
"Good to meet you, Brutus," Kon greeted, giving a slightly exaggerated bow. It was a tricky thing, with his hand out like that, but he managed it without disturbing Justin. He smiled down at Ururu. "I think Justin is enjoying the company."
Another pair of excited squeaks confirmed this.

"Ah, please come into the living room. If we close all the doors they should not be able to run away, and... there are lots of things for them to climb on and jump off of." It seemed to her that the rats would be thankful for a little height to take flight from. Brutus had been flying with a lot of difficulty when they'd first seen him.
Ururu blinked at Kon after her explanation - had she been making conversation, without even having to think too hard about it? She blinked again, slightly surprised. Leading the way into the living room Ururu stroked Brutus kindly. She had something to talk about, and Kon seemed to be really easy to talk to. So many good things had come about because of the flying rats.

Ururu had been putting Brutus down on the low table once she'd heard Kon shut the door behind him, and his exclamation made her turn around to see Justin headed straight for her.
Her expression unchanging, her hand darted out quickly to gently snatch Justin from the air before he could run into her face. (It had been an instinctive reaction, really, for Justin probably would not have hit her face.)
Suddenly a breeze was in her left ear and she saw that Brutus had also taken flight. He came between her and Justin and gave the other rat a somewhat indignant squeak. Was Brutus upset that Justin had come at her like that? How cute - he was being protective. Justin gave a squeak in return, saying "nothin' would have happened, but sorry 'bout that", Ururu imagined. Deciding that they had made up, she set Justin into the palm of her other hand, allowing him to take flight again. They immediately set to chasing themselves around in circles in the air.
