It was only because Iba was currently preoccupied with his research (and that Honryuu was restless, but that was almost a normal state for him) that the ox answered Senbonzakura's call. He's spoke to Kuchiki-taichou's zanpakutou a number of times before. Never really anything substantial, but Senbonzakura was pleasant enough. Considering the obvious differences in their wielders, perhaps it was strange that Honryuu rather liked Senbonzakura ( ... )

Senbonzakura was pleased when he sensed Honryuu enter his world. The ox's nature would make for a good conversation, he was sure. He felt a little bad that he wouldn't change into his true crane form when other zanpakutou beasts came, but the human warrior's form was best for offering hospitality after all. After all, a crane would have a hard time sweeping petals or serving food ( ... )

Honryuu snorted in amusement at Senbonzakura's explanation and then jumped onto the porch, landing far more lightly than his stature might suggest. Even so, his hooves clacked against the wood loudly. He found he didn't care; if someone protested his form, they could 'sit and spin'. (Iba had heard that phrase once and found it remarkably amusing. Honryuu rather agreed. Both were now just looking for a chance to use it.)

He settled on the porch, looking out over the blossoming trees and the twilight, and offered what amounted to a grin to his companions. He had pears! 'Of course' Honryuu shuddered, the longer hair along the top of neck and withers settling messily. 'Give me some of those pears and I'll talk for as long as you want me to.'

Senbonzakura chuckled lightly at the ox's enthusiasm. He tried his best to remember everyone's favorite food, but with there being so many zanpakutou it was easy to be mistaken. Taking out the apples from the mixed bowl of fruit, he presented the pears to Honryuu.

Taking an apple for himself he settled down beside the huge form of Honryuu. Good thing this was a spiritual realm - a physical deck wouldn't hold up so well to a true ox. (He was momentarily amused with the mental image of Honryuu breaking though the deck, standing in the midst of shattered planks of wood with a stubbornly angry look on his face.)

For a minute Senbonzakura appreciated the view, munching on the sweet apple. Then he struck up conversation.
"It has been boring recently, hasn't it. Our masters are very concerned with research, which doesn't lend any excitement to us." Well, for Byakuya-san there was the matter with the Snatcher hollows, but that had been a frustrating day of futility after over a week of planning. He'd rather not talk about that"I'd say that ( ... )

(*sheepish* Yes, I'm still looking for a good Honryuu icon XD) glasses_atnight October 26 2009, 23:06:39 UTC
Honryuu nosed at the pears, snuffling contently at their sweet scent. They were perfect, picked at the height of ripeness, and Honryuu pulled one out of the bowl, flipped it in the air, and caught it cleanly.

He chewed the last of the pear as Senbonzakura started speaking and snorted after swallowing the last of it. "Research." He understood and appreciated the importance of what Iba was doing but hell if it didn't grate on his nerves. He and Iba both were beings who much preferred action over planning. Iba was a good researcher though, far better than Honryuu would have been.

"That's how it is." Honryuu snorted, trying to find the next best pear to pull out. "Horrible days of boredom between moments of excitement. The shinigami are nervous, though. Iba particularly keeps waiting for something else to happen. Puts him on edge. I doubt it's different for many of the others."
