Instinct told him to reach for his Quincy cross as the blonde leapt over him - instinct that was carefully set aside for study later as said blonde man grabbed him and shook him. Was this the one who'd been following him for the last few hours?

But for it - and it was an it, for there was a remarkable feeling of arrancar reiatsu about it, even though it had no mask (and wasn't that strange?) - to call him 'Ichigo' meant that he was missing something.

"Old and wrinkly? I'm afraid that you're mistaking me for someone else."

His voice said 'Patience' but his expression said 'Call me old again and I'll rip you apart.'

"What--" It was all he had time to say before the...whatever it was leapt at him, crying and pulling him tight against is. Wrinkly, old, elderly and going to die soon? He bristled, but it did not retreat, and so in the end it was he that put space between himself and the creature, reaching up first to adjust his glasses, then drawing his bow and pointing it at Pesche.

It only made sense. He'd never seen this Arrancar-feeling-man before, but if the more human they were the stronger they were, then this one must be strong enough to defeat an Espada.

"So you are the creature that attacked the one called Nnoitra, are you not? You should know that this town is protected by more than just me. You are not welcome here."

It didn't matter that Ishida had drawn his bow. They were friends, after all! Uryuu would never shoot him! Maybe he'd shoot at him, but he'd certainly never shoot him! So Pesche didn't back up, or even show a sign of fear when Ryuuken pointed the bow at him.

In fact, the only thing he was worried about was Ryuuken's age. And the way he didn't seem to remember him. Pesche shook his head rapidly. 'No! No, no way! I wouldn't dare challenge Nnoitra. He's too strong for me. Why, he would squish me like a little bug! You know that, Ichigo! Ichigo, don't you know me?!" He moved closer again.

"How could you forget me!? Why, you were my sidekick during your fight with Szayel-Aporro Grantz!" It was almost heartbreaking the way that Uryuu didn't remember him! "Pesche Gautiche! Do you remember me now, Ichigo? Or did Szayel-Aporro-sama do something to your brains while I wasn't looking!?"

"During the fight with Szayel Aporro? The Octava that attacked my son?" No, he stopped, lowering his bow slightly. "Sidekick? No Quincy is anyone's sidekick." He was sure that the odd man must be lying now, either way he stepped carefully away from him, around him, stepping aside.

"I am going home. Don't follow me. I don't know you, and you clearly don't know me, either, of you would leave me be."
