Favorite Books of 2009

Jan 06, 2010 17:56

I have tiegirl  to thank for several of my favorite books of the year.  Neither series is new, but both are ones I'll read again and again.  So good!

Psion, Catspaw and Dreamfall by Joan D. Vinge
The Truth Trap, Aren't You the One Who..., Losers and Winners and Cutting Loose by Frances A. Miller

aged_crone  recommended the Miller books to me, too.  Thanks, ladies!  ( Read more... )

books, graphic novels, book reviews

wow! I don't think I read a single new (non uni) book in 2009. Wait, I read The Hallowed Hunt by Bujold, the third Raine Benares book by Lisa Shearin and Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews, Bellwether by Connie Willis. That's five. I used to read five new books some weeks when I was a kid. (And I didn't even reread much - just These Old Shades and a few Miles books.) eeep!

Before you know it, you'll have time to read again. How nice! Hey, you've been a little busy these past three years.

I really need to read Bellwether.

You are welcome, Chex! (btw, Powells and Alibris do pretty well, also!) And you are a reading fool, girl! You go!

I don't think I've bought anything from Alibris, but I've checked there for books lots of times. Powells--I don't usually check there but I'll have to start.

Remember, lots of the books I read are middle-grade or graphic novels. Pretty quick reads. Luckily, since I'm a notoriously slow reader these days.

You've inspired me to start keeping track of the books I read again. I used to do it on an old computer, which has been in the shop for over a year. But that's it's own sad story.

*Makes a note to try and check out all the above books*

The Truth Trap and the sequels are the ones I'm loving most right now, but they are really hard to find. Let me know if you want to borrow my copies. Otherwise, Abebooks usually has them for a dollar or so.
