oooh great idea.

Some of the 11-year-olds cannot understand that the hardback and pb of the same book (with different covers) are the same.

That's seriously weird

Yes! It's so bizarre to me, but one child absolutely would not believe me when I told him that. He also couldn't understand when I told him the book he checked out was not in the library. He brought me one just like it from the shelf, but it wasn't his copy. I could not convince him that we have 10 copies, they all look alike, but they all have different bar codes and this one WAS NOT HIS. Gah.

It didn't work so well with 6th grade -- too squirmy. Trying it with 8th this afternoon.

Yes, you sound like a truly wonderful librarian and teacher. I wish I had one like you growing up. Ours were pretty much hands off except for yelling at us. :(
