I wonder if there is a connection between the rise in popularity of the All Engrossing Explain Everything Books and the inability to sit still and focus on something complex.

In a way it seems as counter intuitive as giving Ritalin (a stimulant) to settle hyperactive kids, but then again, those Explain All books are so engrossing in a Here and Now way.

Ack, you really make me want to write a thesis. I think you've hit on something about people not being willing to work to figure out the complexities of books. And not just kids, either.
