I had the pleasure of meeting author David Lubar a while back and was the lucky recipient of an advance copy of his new book My Rotten Life, the first in a new series called Nathan Abercrombie, Accidental Zombie.   I'm a huge fan of Sleeping Freshman Never Lie and this new book is sort of like Sleeping Freshman for the elementary group, which means ( Read more... )

The ARC is not signed, but my Sleeping Freshmen is! My nephew would like the book, but I don't think he reads well enough quite yet to read it on his own. I keep giving my brother books to read aloud to his kids. I'm sure he loves me for that. :)

that's what librarian aunts are there for!

my eight-year-old cousins are visiting for Malone's graduation and we were sitting around talking about what they liked to read (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, apparently) and reminiscing about Ramona and the Little House and Boxcar Children books...do kids at your library read those anymore?

Little House, yes, the others not so much. I'm not sure we even have any Boxcar Children anymore.

My 9-year-old niece loves the Wimpy Kid books. But her favorite right now (purchased by a librarian aunt) is Rapunzel's Revenge by Shannon Hale.

That's awesome! He was in Denver for our Teen Lit Conference and I got to hear him speak, along with Jordan Sonnenblick. Both of them were hilarious. Lubar read us a goofy short story during his speech. And they seemed to get along really really well in the Q&A session, which was a hoot. They both kept mentioning John Green and pretending to swoon!

Oh, funny. I'd love to have seen the two of them together. We're thinking of trying to arrange for Jordan Sonnenblick for a visit next year.
