In OK, it's finally turning green, the redbuds (and even more intense shade of that phlox purple) and some groundcover of the prettiest sort, a lighter purple are coming out. And light yellow flowers are popping up...
But for me, it's the green that makes life worth living, and then the splashes of color that make it abundantly joyful.
Oh wow. We have, um, crocuses...Yesterday the temperature was in the 60s and it felt really hot because there aren't any leaves on the trees at all. It must be nice to lie somewhere where there is spring!
I do love the early spring here. We get this nasty pine pollen, though, that keeps us from opening the windows or sitting outside for a few more weeks. It's a horrible lime green color and coats the cars and streets. After it rains there are streams of it. Ick. Once it's gone we have to clean everything.
So pretty! So bright! Those are early summer flowers for us, and generally bloom in June. But I have daffodils getting ready to burst forth on a sunny day, and the lawns and farm fields are turning green.

We're caught in a cell of rain storms right now, but I am daily thankful it's not the snow they are getting farther north. UP Michigan is getting 3 feet of snow today, while we're getting what is at least a cleansing, if tiresome, rain.
Clear and in the upper 60s next week though ... Capris! Sandals! Flashy red toes!
The phlox last for several weeks, the azaleas not so long. Some towns around here have festivals so you can go and see all the azaleas while they are blooming. They are so pretty!
The only flowers we have blooming all winter are pansies, but they can be real pretty. Everything else starts coming out in March and dies when we get a hard frost, usually in November or December.

Three cheers for spring!
