A Truly Happy, and Thankful, Post

I had dinner with Alex's mother last night.

If I EVER complain about ANYTHING in my blessed, wonderful, in-comparison-PERFECT life again, I want all of you to promise me that you will hunt me down and smack me upside the head.  Repeatedly.

In case you don't frequent Chatzy, Alex is the 19-year-old son of a friend, and he has lymphoma.  He recently ( Read more... )

That does sound humbling, though you don't need it as much as others, dear Checkers. Tell him and him family they're still getting lots of prayers and good thoughts from this direction!

Thanks, Avian. I've told her about all the folks I know who are wishing them well.

How's Alex going? We had an uncle with lyphoma who had a similar procedure, and it was hard. I'm still counting my blood donations towards the amount he must have used needed platelet transfusions all the time!

You have my permision to also hit me "upside the head" (funny expression!) if I start complaining too :)

They found out pretty quickly that the graft "took," which was welcome news, but then he got Host vs. Graft Disease and his body tried to reject the new cells. He's been terribly ill up until the past few days, and now he is doing a bit better. He had so much internal bleeding that he was getting several pints of blood each day.

His white blood count gets better and better, he just needs to get his digestive system back on track and start feeling better. Thanks for the good wishes for him.

Ha! We say "upside the head" a lot here!

Aw... tell him a really weird girl in Florida hopes he feels better!

(By the way, today my librarian said she'd finished the Immortals quartet and if I knew of any others. I asked if she'd read the Megan Whalen Turner books. She said NO! I went and got the first two from the shelf for her (we don't have KoA).)

Way to go, Willow! Make her read them! I haven't read the Immortals books, though I have read most of Pierce's other ones.

Psht. I suppose I could tell that a really weird, obsessed comm hopes he feels better. :P
