January doldrums

You know the saying "comfort food" that refers to those foods that make us feel comfortable and good?  It occured to me today that I have comfort clothing, too.  Certain things that I wear on a day like today--the first day back to work after a long weekend, a rainy, dreary, January-doldrums day.  When I got ready for work, I reached for my ( Read more... )

ooh...I like the new layout.

my comfort clothes are old flannel pj-pants, my comfy bra that's way stretched out and makes absolutely nothing tight-fitting look flattering on me, a gigantic t-shirt, a gigantic sweater/sweatshirt, and warm toe socks.

Thanks, jade, the layout took forever to do! The comfort clothes HAVE to be loose and baggy, that's for sure.

My green coat (which fell apart after I wore it so much)! Or rather, my new turquoise coat now! Because no one has one like it! And I love the looks I get from boringly dressed people in plain dark clothes. And from small children.

Um...my black and silver skull print t-shirt. because the black makes me look slimmer and the little silver skulls look cool, not too dressed up, not too casual. *loves*

I liked the coat in the picture you posted. Little silver skulls, huh? I think I'd better stick with my blue sweater, at least in the library. :)

Lovely old soft cotton t-shirt and either shorts so old and loose they basically have to be tied on or long elastic waisted cotton pants. Or a sack dress I've had for years.

Respectable comfort clothes...I don't know if I have any!

Oh and I thought of a sort-of respectable outfit I love wearing as comfort clothes - a red dress with a smocky top and very loose bottom half. Comfy and not too bummy, even when I don't wear a bra with it :)

Wearing red always makes me feel good. I think I need more red clothes. They have to be a true red or dark red, though. None of that orangey-red.

Pretty much the same as everyone else's. :) Comfy bra, big red t-shirt, old PJ trousers, fluffy socks and my mum's old jumper.

Comfort clothes you can get away with wearing out? Strangely enough, my gothy t-shirts and scruffy old jeans back from when I was a younger grungy teenager. You can blend into any crowd in London wearing stuff like that. :)

How about comfort food? Is it ice cream and chocolate for everyone, or do some people find other things more comforting?

comfy respectable clothes? hm...oh, I have a nice shirt that's kind of loose-fitting--wide neck, straight down, not necessarily form-fitting but still formalish--which I can wear with a dark cami underneath, and my black jeans that are snug but comfy. If I'm just going out in public and not dressing up, though, I just wear t-shirt and jeans.

...I find my grandmother's vegetable soup comforting. and black-eyed peas. And real mashed potatoes. And brownies. Depends on the kind of comfort I'm thinking about.

Mmm. Mashed potatoes. Canned tomato soup.

It's hard to believe, but I'm not a big fan of ice cream. That's about the only sweet I don't crave. I'm more of a cookie person. But chocolate, yes!

I *love* your layout!

Here's a unique one: my comfort pants are the pants of my highschool uniform. They are so wonderfully soft and baggy and I love them. :)

you lucky duck. I had to wear a skirt for my school uniform. (granted, I could wear pants, but they were boy pants, and so NOT flattering. :-b)

Thanks, danny! The layout was a pain in the ass, but I've finally gotten it to where I like it pretty well. Comfort clothes have to be soft and baggy, I'd say. Hmph. Uniform pants, that is unique!
