I don't even remember how I write it most of the time but I think part of the reason you don't write two blow jobs consecutively is because it's difficult not to make it repetitive. Perhaps? I wouldn't write two handjobs or two rimjobs or whatever after one another because of that, so the same goes for bjs, really.

Yeah, I figured as much as well. I have asolutely no problem with the blowjob/handjob dynamic, but I find it interesting that it's such a common method of dealing with gay sex.

I think it depends on the characters and how the author interprets them. In SGA, I view John and Rodney as equals. So, unless I was specifically writing D/S,I tend to write the guy who gave the blowjob as the top.

Yeah, I don't know if this is even a conscious decicion on the part of the writer. Maybe it's one of those power dynamics that is so "obvious" in the writer's head that they don't even question it? I dunno.

Seriously, though, I don't mind the dynamics as they are, it's just interesting that EVERYBODY writes the same thing. I'm wondering if this is one of those unspoke fandom rules, or if it's just easier on the part of the writer to write a blowjob followed by something relatively simple.
