I suppose every fandom has them, but I haven't really heard of or seen any yet

So I started reading meta about wanks and BNF and was pretty amused. I've been waltzing in and out of different fandoms for nearly three years now, and I've seen my share of asshattery, but I've never actually been involved in wank as such (except for the occasional "my two cents" entry in my LJ), at least not that I know. I've never seen it up

Also, if you're a BNF in one fandom, does that status carry over into the next?

Not always, which is good. Sometimes, as a BNF, you just wanna be a newbie again. However, I do strongly think that the actions that made you a BNF in one fandom (writing or drawing or pimping or running comms) will lead you to become a BNF or a more well-known fan in the other fandom more quickly than if you weren't known in any other fandom at all because those actions are such a part of your character that you bring those abilities over with you.
