My two cents. We all know what this will lead to, right?

So this bandflesh thing. I'm going to be honest with you, when I first heard it had been hacked I laughed about it and thought it was pretty funny. But then I heard it had been deleted and then it kind of stopped being funny a little bit. What the hell is the point of hacking something just to delete it, is my question? If you're feeling hurt and ( Read more... )

Thank you for saying this. I'm not massively well-versed on bandflesh, but this post describes my feelings a lot better than I could.

♥ I'm not enormously well-versed either, truth be told. I have a couple of flisters who are or were into it and I've been talking to them about what it's about, back when my friends and I were targeted, but I still don't get it. Karin's comment below makes sense though, I've been thinking about that too.

On that level it makes some sort of sense, yes. I definitely see your point. But to be anonymous just to dare say things you can't put your name to? That's the part I don't get. While the 90% of bandflesh that is all about the squee mystifies me, it's not what makes me puzzled about bandflesh the most. It's the 10% that is bad that makes me confused, because why do we have to be so very middle school about things we don't like? Oh, well.

I tried to write this entry as unoffensive as I could manage, because I'm not trying to condemn people. I don't get it, but that's me, not the rest of all the people on my own flist who love the thing. What I was struck by was chiefly that it seems to be a response to something, the hack. Petty, stupid and pretty damn disproportionate, but still a response.

But yay, opinions! ♥

ahaha agreed.
i mean, its really unlikely that mister ryro here will actually read your fic about him boning bden or whatever, AND if he does, it's not like he can really put a face to the lj username, AND IF YOU HAVE YOUR FACEBOOK/MYSPACE/HEADSHOT AND ADDRESS attached to your fic, then its also unlikely that he would go so far as to look for it, AND IF HE DID, after all that, he probably wont remember your face after like, a week. And if he does, they are completely out of any fangirls league anyhow.

The same goes for the majority of the kids on the internet. Unless you are bffs with your fav writer, and go shopping with them every weekend or something, what you say, is like, not actually attached to your person. People care too much about the internet world. GOD!

SO. In conclusion. Fourth wall issues are... not an issue to me at all.

If that has anything to do with what you are saying, that is. If not, then, well. NVM

People do care too much, I think. I mean, as annoying as it is to be lumped in with THOSE fangirls (the ones that make an intensely uncomfortable Ryan hold a RYDEN 4EVA sign, for example) the only thing we can do is spend our time in our corner of fandom and prove them wrong every day. Our writing fic about them doesn't mean that we're not a) mature, b) respectful of them and their girlfriends, c) in touch with reality or d) intelligent, rational creatures. Ryan Ross and others, otoh, I feel are kind of hypocritical considering their fanboyhood.

But yeah, this is pretty much how I feel about the fourth wall as well. ♥
