Food Processor

I'm looking to buy my first food processor for making hummus and raw food deserts. Does anyone have any recommendations? How about ones that are manually cranked?

I have a 9-cup Kitchenaid and it's great. It does a great job with nut butters and other stuff that needs to be really finely ground. They're expensive, but you can often find refurbished ones considerably cheaper on overstock.com.

My Overstock.com refurb Cuisinart blender/processor finally died after 7 years of heavy use, so I second this suggestion, though I chose a full size Cuisinart as its replacement. It was on sale at Amazon, and is surprisingly fast and quiet.

I have a 7 cup Cuisinart and it is amazing! I love it.

I got an Oskar at a thrift store, and I think it was a great machine for the money! Heck, I think it's a great machine. My companion, though, complains that it is too loud.

I have an 11-cup Hamilton Beach that I adore. Might be too big for your purposes? But it's a trooper.

I have a manual crank one. It doesn't really work for hummus, but it's good for quickly dicing veggies or making guacamole. If you want to do lots of hummus, I'd go for an electric one.
