SU has done a number of academic salons, panels (I would look around for them as people come who could be valuable), and a "sustainability week" on campus. I did a short search and didn't see anything happening soon as the year is drawing to a close but they often will often focus on sustainability and the Jesuit mission.

I was raised Unitarian Universalist and searching for local UU environmentalist groups led me from: http://www.uuministryforearth.org/cgi/news.cgi

to: http://www.nwei.org/

who is having a conference in Oregon in June including faith based groups interested in environment issues. If you cannot go maybe just getting a copy of their program would give you some great leads.

I do recall that his presentation included impacts on human populations as well as the environment, and there was a strong theme of good stewardship (which is part of $MY_UNIVERSITY's mission as well).

I love the Deep Ecology stuff -- I went to the Deep Ecology conference on Whidbey Island in 1993? 4? And it changed my life. And even the Joanna Macy "Grief and Empowerment in the Nuclear Age. Joanna has a buddhist perspective, but her point is that environmentalists burn out from grief and it is only by being aware of the Great Turning in our spirituality that we have a chance to survive ourselves. She was a 3 Mile Island activist back when ( ... )
