Terminator 4 aka Our Writers Are Commitment-phobes

I was incredibly disappointed in the latest Terminator installment. It was as if the writers read the back of the DVD boxes of the last three movies and then got to work. A lot of your criticisms regarding timeline and setup haven't happened yet. This is still earlier in the war, which explains why there are no terminator sniffing dogs (don't need them yet), why there is still a lot of weapons and equpiment for the humans to fight the war with, why John isn't necessarily the leader yet (he's still proving himself in terms of what he knows... it would be stupid for people to just follow him blindly), and why John hasn't given Sarah's picture to Kyle yet (he gave Kyle the picture to help him find her in the past AFTER time travel became possible). John also KNOW that any Arnold terminators are going to be there to kill him. The only reason the T-800 in T2 helps John is because he was reprogrammed by John sometime in the future ( ... )

Oh and, in T1, the story was that humans were almost exterminated. However, humans managed to turn the tide and won the war just prior to the first T-800 and Kyle being sent back in time. Again, we're not at that stage of the story yet. I would think the war will get much worse for the humans before it gets better. There still are at least two more movies in the series for the "pipe bombs, dogs, hand guns" level of desperation to happen.
