My wife's grandmother has been ill for a number of months now. She is 86 years old and, this summer, was diagnosed with cancer. I was all pumped up to go swimming this morning. I woke up and got there nice and early, took off my clothes and hung them up. Then, I reached into my bag only to find that I'd forgotten my swimsuit! I thought about going skinny-dipping, but someone probably would have called the police. :)

I've wanted to be able to change the background for my LJ and customize it for a long time, but I can never seem to figure it out. I know how to do the cookie-cutter templates, but I want to be able to use my own background. I don't get it! If anyone can counsel me, I would be most appreciative ( Read more... )

What time is it?

I once posted to an LJ Community called, dream_journal. I joined the community and thought it was a cool idea for people to post their dreams. Time has passed and I find that I am uninterested in reading about the dreams of other people! I talk to a lot of older people in my line of work. Many of these people aren't doing so well physically and it's hard for them. For many, the mind hasn't yet slowed down as much as the body. They remember the way it was to be active and to travel, to get things done around the house and to be in control of their bodies. They get frustrated ( Read more... )

I did it. This morning I finally went and worked-out. I didn't swim for very long, maybe 1/2 an hour but it's a start. I can already feel that my arms and legs might be sore tomorrow, so I imagine my heart liked it too!

I love to read. This afternoon, I listened to Talk of The Nation on NPR. They had a session where they talked about books that have changed peoples' lives or caused them to think about things differently than they had before.
