Ehren's Birthday Cake

Ehren turns 9 today.  Yesterday he and I baked his cake.  I try to avoid using the oven in July-August, so we made it in the crock pot.  Here is the recipe.  I read online that it's the first cake children learn to make in France.  We altered the recipe a little.  Ehren enjoyed making it.  I'll report later whether we liked it.
