Regardless of size (and what's "average") talking to him about it is probably not going to put him at his ease... If he's insecure he'll just think you're being kind. (FYI 5-7 inches is usually considered about average but it varies a lot - also flaccid size is often very different and not a great indicator).

The question is - when you DO see him naked, does he turn you on? When you and he get physical does he get you going? When he fucks you (if you're there yet) does the cock feel good? If so - make sure you are verbal (or at least make appreciative noises) and make sure he knows that he has that effect on you. Later you can start telling him how much looking at him gets you horny and make him feel like a sex god (assuming you can train him to please you *grin*)

On the off chance that you think he's insecure that he's too BIG... Umm - pretty much the same approach... Worship it... ;)
