It's sad, isn't it? Amazingly talented, and he didn't even get singing lessons till he was 21, I think. Those are wonderful songs to remember him by.

By the way, I've finally gotten into SPN, and I just wanted to tell you that I really loved your vid "Protège Moi". Awesome work, it looks fantastic and it works so well with the song, it's really stuck in my head.

"The Way We Get By" was fun, which reminds me that I haven't found many uplifting SPN vids yet. I love the angst, but it was nice to see someone focus on the light side for a change. :D

It is very sad, he had such a talent and he brought opera to the masses like no other. He is a loss to many.

I'm pleased you've been enjoying SPN and that "Protège Moi" made such an impression. There will be a John Winchester vid coming soon, hopefully. Then I'm going to be remastering "The Way We Get By" to use the DVD source and you are absolutely right there should be more fun in the SPN fandom.

My friend Doro tried to get me to watch the show for years, but being still disappointed that The X-Files ended up a shadow of its former self, I never thought I'd enjoy a dark, supernatural show again. I fell in love with SPN quickly. It hit all the right buttons.

I guess it helped that I expected the show to be a standalone monster of the week show. I didn't expect the beautiful character and story arc developments. Also, I'm glad that the show isn't so full of itself. It doesn't claim "I'm the best show ever!", which The X-Files did, even when its glory days were long gone ( ... )

It does have some "X-files" elements and I definitely enjoy the fact that it can laugh at itself. I never watched "X-files" when it aired, I'm only now working my way through the DVDs. For this reason I have been noticing a lot of similar storylines. the thing I've noticed about "X-files" where I differ from most fans of the show is that I prefer the standalone eps to the big arc ones. That is the opposite of every other show I've ever enjoyed. I think like you say it may be that in the arc eps there is a certain amount of pomposity that turns me off.

As for "Woman's Work". I have seen it. I think they make a valid point but, truthfully, it will never be my favourite Supernatural vid because I always feel bludgeoned whenever I watch it. I am hopeful that SPN will find a way next season to find stronger roles for its female characters. I don't see me in any of the damsels either.

If you like the darkness of "Protège Moi" I hope you'll enjoy the Papa Winchester vid because it is full of teh angst but in a controlled calm way.
