A man of 20 called Ralph comes over with two cans of Coke and a tray of cookies, sitting nearby.

She is nervous at first but after a few moments looks over, still veiled.

Ralph looks over at Peninnah. She seems self-concious, but he doesn't mind. In fact it makes him trust Peninnah more. He takes a long look at her dark eyes, which are accentuated to him through the Veil. "I'm Ralph." He says, opening the spare can on the table with the intention of giving it to Peninnah, but the foam floats over and slips to the floor. He still manages to look mildly amused, with a stoic smile. "It's OK..."

It is a pleasure to meet you. She smiles and despite her nervousness removes her veil but leaves the head scarf in place. Her friends had told her she should. Behind it her eyes are actually a mid-gray tone.
