Well, how else might a child express himself artistically? Scarification on the corpse of a beloved dog struck dead by a car? The smear of cockroach entrails in bloody patterns on a bathroom wall? Dirty fingernail clippings glued together to form a spiked sculpture?

Aside from paints or pastels or markers, one would assume crayons would be the obvious choice.

Eight. Unfortunately, my drawing abilities - or lack thereof - never progressed beyond scribbled crayon illustrations.
