Lucy hasn't been to this cafe before -- then again, she's pretty new to this whole "Loft" thing in general. But she's not one to pass up an adventure, and this looks pretty easy to get used to. Besides, it's a break from the craziness back --
Oh wait, no it isn't, not quite. A certain detective seems to have discovered this place too. "Hi there," she says, walking up. "Wasn't expecting to see you here."
Alex turned around so suddenly, she almost fell off her bar stool. "Lucy, well this certainly is a surprise. I was just following up on a recent lead I've encountered for your case." She smiled, relaxing in the woman's pleasant aura.
"I'm not sure I will find many people willing to talk to me, sadly." She said in just above a whisper, "They don't appear to take too kindly to strangers around here."
Alex waited patiently for Steven to come back with her breakfast. She hoped maybe Lucy herself could give her some clue as to how she had ended up in this God forsaken cafe in the first place. "How are you feeling today?"
"Leads are good," Lucy nodded, taking a seat next to Alex. "Leads are very good."
She shrugged. "Well, you never know. You might run into someone with loose lips. Though I dunno if anybody here will know anything. Still, gotta investigate everywhere, right?"
Lucy isn't sure herself -- she just found a door one day that opened up to here. "Better than I have," she said easily, leaning on the countertop. "Whoever's being Mr -- or Miss -- Creepy has apparently decided to take a brief break. Maybe they know I've got you on the case and are trying to cover their tracks." She grinned. "For all the good it'll do him or her, right?"
Alex grinned, glad that Lucy appeared in better spirits than she had when they'd first met. Whoever her stalker was apparently hadn't found out where Lucy had been hiding the past three months, and Alex felt that was probably just what Lucy needed. "Don't you worry. I'll find out who is trying to harm you, and everything will be okay. You'll see."
She paused a moment, wondering where the heck her breakfast had wandered off to, then she turned back to Lucy with an exasperated sigh. "I'm not going to give up on this place just yet. There has to be a clue around here somewhere. Are you sure you've never visited this cafe before now? Perhaps even briefly for a quick pick me up?"
Exactly what Lucy needed, yes. She doesn't do well when being stalked by some lunatic who has discovered a few painful secrets. And she doesn't think him or her will find her here, which is another plus. "Thanks," she said with a smile. "I really hope so. I don't need this kind of stress in my life." Who does?
Lucy looked around, taking in the details of the place. "Hang on -- yeah, I think I have! I first found out about this place on Easter. They were giving away free eggs." She paused, wondering if she should mention that the eggs apparently did weird-ass stuff to you - in Lucy's case, turning you bright green and making flowers grow up around your feet. (Luckily it wore off after a few hours, because that would have hard to explain to the people back home.)
"So you HAVE been here..at least once. I need you to dig deep for me, Lucy. See if you can bring up any details of that day that may have seemed out of place, or any people that took a special interest in your presence here at the cafe that day. I know its hard, but we have to sort this out somehow."
Alex had pretty much given up on getting breakfast by this time, and was now more interested in what Lucy had to share with her than in eating a couple eggs.
On a mental note, she wondered where Steven had disappeared to, and why he had taken her camera with him???
"Could have only been the once -- didn't know the place existed before that day." Lucy leaned on the counter, thinking hard. "I really didn't notice anybody watching me particularly closely. But it was pretty chaotic that day. People coming in, grabbing free eggs. . . ." She pauses, eyes Alex a minute. Well, she should probably mention the weird stuff sooner or later. "And they were -- pretty weird eggs. Somebody'd done something to them that cause all sorts of crazy stuff to happen. I think I might have gotten lost in the crowd. At least, I assumed I had. . . ." Which was just fine with her, as she didn't want anyone commenting on her new weird skin tone. (Oh, Trevor would have had a field day with it had she dared to go home before it wore off. "Man, when you say green is your favorite color, you ain't kidding." "Luce, you're about a month late for St. Patrick's Day.")
Alex jotted down notes furiously on her note pad, and tried to feel what Lucy may have felt trapped inside that busy crowd. With her bright, red hair, and easy demeanor, surely someone would have taken an interest in her. She scratched her head, deep in thought. That's when she experienced a tiny "aha" moment that she'd been waiting for.
"Lucy...was there anyone in charge of making sure people got eggs? Did you have to sign a sheet or anything noting any details about yourself to get them? Or perhaps, did they have informal introductions among the patrons so that they could get to know each other in some way?"
Less "trapped" and more "embarrassed as all hell because WTF I'm GREEN." Though, admittedly, that probably would have made her stand out more to anyone who was taking an interest.
Lucy shook her head. "Nope. Just a big old basket filled with eggs, and a big old 'Please Take One' sign. With a disclaimer about how the management wasn't responsible for what happened on the other." She sighed a little and rolled her eyes. "Should have paid more attention that. . . Anyway, if you got to know anybody, it was people talking to you after you'd eaten. Granted, there were a lot of conversations happening around me, but nobody talked to me in particular. Doesn't rule out anybody spotting me, I know, but it looked like everybody was pretty busy with their own problems at the time."
Alex felt frustrated because she knew SOMETHING had drawn her here to this realm she was a stranger to. There just had to be a clue here somewhere...she just had to figure out where to look.
She stared point blank at Lucy, meeting her eyes steady. "We need to go somewhere where we won't be overheard by just anyone passing by. Can you think of somewhere you are familiar to within this realm that we can head off to and have a somewhat more serious chat about some very personal pieces I need to clear up?"
((OOC: Lucy hon start a new thread in this community with a tag location of a place you would like to go, and we'll continue RPing There, okay?))
Alex noticed Lucy's small nod, and put away her notepad and pen, dropping her hat on her head and leading Lucy out of the diner. She would come back for her camera later, she supposed.
Lucy made a bit of a face. "In this place? That would be here, pretty much. I dropped in on Easter, then again today. Meant to come back earlier and have a real look-around, but life got in the way, you know?" She held up a finger. "However, it's a pretty quick walk back to my apartment from this place, if that'll do. Here, I'll show you." She lets Alex take the lead at getting out of the diner, then shows the way back to her own place.
