Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Wow, it's hard to believe -- but our Mom and Dad were married 71 years ago today!!!

(Dad passed back in 1998, and Mom in 2000. I can't believe it's been 13 years since Mom died...)

How the years fly by...

I hope the folks are sharing something fun together in heaven today. Maybe watching a Sean Connery or John Wayne movie. (grin)

Before Dad died, they celebrated their 56th anniversary. We did a big celebration (we three daughters) for their 50th, which was fun!

They had some tough times along the way, and didn't always get along, but I'm glad they managed to stay in love and married...

It made me feel so good when you said that the grandfather clock was chiming before you came out for us to go to dinner. It was Mom telling you that they were enjoying their anniversary. Nice picture of them. I love you Charlie and enjoyed dinner with you tonight. We used to spend so much time together, but now you are too busy with work all of the time. I hope this year we can spend a little more time doing fun things again. Thank you so much for the clothes. I will enjoy them and get a lot of use out of them.

Yes, we're going to spend a lot of time together this year -- I promise you! We're going to see each other every week (at least once) -- and try to see each other more often!

I hope some of the clothes work out for you, Sue. Sorry about those jeans. (sigh) But hopefully I'll find you some more good stuff to wear...

Well, I have to be honest: I'd totally forgotten! Then I went to leave the house to have dinner with sister Sue -- and the grandfather clock was began to chime. We always say that this is our Mother, talking to us. So I mentioned it to Sue in the car, and she said, "Mom was reminding you that it's her anniversary!" Once I put the date firmly into my head, yes, I remembered. But I kept thinking yesterday was January 22 (not 23!). Hahahahaha.

See? Honesty means I have to do a long reply! (smile)

I always remember my parent's anniversary date...June 17, 63 years this year.
Dad died in 1993 (how can it be almost 20 years??) and Mom in 1997. Time goes by so quickly.

And it still feels weird to be an orphan, even at my age. I'm surprised how hard that is...
